What We Do

The Arwarbukarl Cultural Resource Association (ACRA) was established by its Aboriginal founders in 2002 with the aim of supporting the preservation of traditional languages and culture of the Aboriginal people of the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Lower Hunter region. Since that time the scope of its operations has expanded and diversified. ACRA's innovation and expertise is now offered to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language communities in Australia.

Now known Australia wide by its trading name, Miromaa Aboriginal Language & Technology Centre (Miromaa ALTC), its vision is to be a leader in the field of the revitalisation, preservation and conservation of Aboriginal Language and Culture, in education and in support for all communities working to strengthen connection with their heritage and identity.

Miromaa ALTC has established itself as an innovator in the use of technology to preserve the traditional languages and culture of Australia, and in the development of software, methodologies and training that inspire people to approach with confidence the task of recording their linguistic and cultural heritage.
